MILLWOOD GROUP OF COMPANIES COMPANY HISTORY
1n 1961 Michael Milnes began to work for himself, with a second
hand lorry transporting potatoes from Lincolnshire to Lancashire.
Although successful the potato haulage business was entirely seasonal
so he started buying woodshavings from timber companies selling
them to any customers he could find.
In 1964 he purchased his first premises – a small yard with
an office and cottage and also employed two drivers. In 1969 he
purchased a two acre industrial site in Boston, by that stage he
employed five drivers and two mechanics and was operating seven
lorries with thirty trailers – Snowflake Woodshavings was
born. Specialising in the removal of sawmill waste for sale predominantly
into the animal bedding market.
In 2005 the majority of the business including the brand and Pet
Product Division was sold. The remaining companies apart from Euroflow
were renamed. Millwood Shavings covering the South of England continue to supply
sawmill clearance from small privately owned sawmills to large multinational
sawmills in either bulk trailer or skip covering the South and South
West.
Millwood Shavings are available in various grades from fine to
coarse for animal bedding, gallops or as a general absorbent:
Millwood Superior is a dust extracted equestrian quality spruce
and pine woodshaving offering superior absorbency and low dust.
Millwood Standard is a value horse/animal bale. Both products
are 120 litre bales (approx. 25kg) and made from untreated sustainable
softwoods.
Also available are a Poultry Grade bale and Sawdust. Bulk material
in all grades is also available. |
